Another spring gone -

computer on my lap,

Dream Place

Leaves rustling softly
water gurgling along my way
a warm blanket my home.

This is a first step in finding and describing that place, living on my mood at the writing time, I think there are many more and very different dream places for me.

I am reading 'Writing across cultures, A Handbook on Writing Poetry & Lyrical Prose' by Edna Kovacs right now, and 'heat haiku' and this are based on 'warming up' exercises of that book. Nice book, good exercises, appealing explanations with impressive examples and an excellent setting in the person an life of the author.

Two Days of Rain in Texas

Pitter, patter, gurgle,

rising through thick, damp air

the smell of wet wood.

Spring Evening in Texas

Traffic sounding louder

light fading, crickets chirping

cool air caressing my skin.

the first fluttering bat passes by

Severe Weather Alert - Texas Haiku

Heartbeat up my throat

announce thunderstorms and hail

tornado warning.

Book of Longing, Philip Glass / Leonard Cohen

I had the pleasure of attending a Glass concert in the Bass Concert Hall in Austin (Feb. 22, 2009). And a pleasure it was. Then I started to think about not just what I heard, but what I had seen, too, and it had the feeling of a presentation with plastic decks. Liked musicians and singers, though.

Hard land, dusty crusts,
splashing, soaking rain leaves clouds

Bitter, creamy taste
fills my mouth as the hard piece
of dark chocolate melts.

Yoga, zen and sports
I dream of flying again
so waiting is good.

Empty, spacious house
no sound, but wind and tick, tock,
time to sleep for me.
